Maternity Photo Session near Carcassonne – A Quiet Escape into Nature

There is something particularly special about maternity sessions. They capture such a fleeting chapter in a couple’s story, the anticipation, the changes, and those quiet moments together before life takes on a whole new rhythm.
Based near Carcassonne, I photograph weddings alongside couples, families and mothers-to-be. Maternity photography has been part of my work for over eight years, and it remains one of the stories I particularly love returning to between weddings.
For this session, we left Carcassonne behind and headed into the Montagne Noire, surrounded by forest, water and beautiful natural landscapes.

For their photographs, we wanted somewhere peaceful, natural and away from everything.
With its forests, winding paths and beautiful evening light, the Montagne Noire offers a wonderful setting for a maternity photo session near Carcassonne, with the feeling of escaping into the mountains without having to travel very far.
We simply walked together, stopping whenever the light or landscape caught my eye.
This is also how I love to photograph these sessions: with very little posing, allowing space for movement, connection and all those spontaneous gestures that happen naturally between two people.
Natural and timeless maternity photography
A maternity session doesn’t need to feel overly styled or posed.
I love to create photographs that feel natural and elegant, paying particular attention to beautiful light, movement and the little details that tell the story.
A hand resting on a growing bump, a look between two parents-to-be, a quiet walk beside the water — often it is these simplest moments that become the photographs you treasure most.
I also love mixing timeless portraits with a few more editorial and spontaneous images. It creates a gallery that feels cohesive while still capturing the personality and atmosphere of the session.
When is the best time for a maternity photo session?
I generally recommend planning your maternity session once your bump is beautifully visible while you are still comfortable enough to walk around and enjoy the experience.
Every pregnancy is different, so we can choose the timing and style of the session together.
You can come alone, as a couple, or bring your children and turn the session into a beautiful record of your family just before it grows.

One of the things I love about living and working in the Aude is the incredible variety of landscapes we have around us.
Near Carcassonne, we can photograph amongst forests, vineyards, lakes or the Mediterranean landscape, depending on the season and the atmosphere you would like for your photographs.
